Nebraska Quail Hunting

The call of the Bobwhite Quail is heard often at Hunter Haven. The birds have plenty of natural habitat to hide in and when the dogs point them and then flush them up-be ready. Quails are a real challenge to shoot and delicious to eat. There is a variety of habitat where the quail hide including tree lines, millet and milo fields, and grass and weed patches for hunting birds.

We are a Controlled Shooting Area. Which allows quail hunting from September 1st thru March 31st. Breakfast and lunch provided on multi day quail hunts. Noon meal at lodge is provided during a single day hunt. Gas, food, and lodging 10 minutes from CSA. Upon request we can reserve motel rooms for multi day hunts. Buckshot Run gets its name from an Indian fighter and government scout, Conrad Wentworth, or as he was known, “Little Buckshot”, who homesteaded along the Deadwood Trail, just east of the North Loup River (Loup is the French name for wolf). From the Missouri river to the Rockies, Little Buckshot was a well-known picturesque personality who figured prominetly in the settlement of the Loup Valley.

You will have plenty of shooting at the Hilltop Hunting Lodge. We have 1200 acres of CRP grass with food plots planted through out the place ( Milo, Corn, Cane, Wheat, Alfalfa and High oiled Sunflowers ) the best part of it... no driving time! The upland bird hunting starts as soon as you walk out the door at the lodge. We have great number of Pheasants, Quail and Chuckers and if you choose to come early in September you can also add a Dove hunt right with it.
